Privacy and your data

Account identity and session data provide the service; limited security records help prevent abuse. Optional Google Analytics requires explicit consent. Hosting and database use Cloudflare, and login uses Google; these services may process data abroad.
Contact us to exercise your rights to learn whether and how data is processed, request information, correction or deletion when applicable, learn recipients, object to automated outcomes and seek compensation for harm.
Management metrics count signed-in accounts that opened a page in the last 10 minutes. Raw last-access records are removed in daily cleanup. Error and duration samples without identities are kept for at most 90 days; reports exclude IP addresses, private messages and content text.
When you sign in with Google, your Google account identifier and verified email address are checked. Your email is not stored in the app database; the account is linked using Google’s stable account identifier. Your Google profile picture is not collected.
What is public
Your username, selected avatar, bio, questions, answer history, and comments are public. Search engines may index public content. Do not share personal or sensitive information.
Sessions and records
A required HttpOnly session cookie is used for sign-in. Sessions last at most 30 days and expire after 7 days of inactivity. Signing out ends the current session. Short-lived login and rate-limit records are retained for security.
Inbox and following
Pending questions sent to another user are visible only to you and the recipient. If the recipient publishes, the question and answer become public; the sender is not automatically named. Followed questions and the last answer version you read are stored for site notifications. No email or browser push notifications are sent.
You can withdraw an unhandled question from Sent; it can no longer be published. A withdrawal record remains in both inboxes. Settings let you pause new private questions without deleting existing requests.
Browser preferences
Drafts are stored separately for each account in this browser tab. While the tab stays open, they can be restored for up to 7 days. Use the delete draft button to remove them. Your comfortable reading preference is stored only in this device’s browser and is not sent for usage measurement.
Profile images and usage measurement
Google Analytics is optional and off by default. Even when enabled by the operator, it loads only after your explicit consent. Refusing does not prevent you from using the site. Withdraw permission through Cookie preferences in the footer. Measurement events do not include questions, answers, searches, profiles, or inbox content. Ad tracking is off. When you consent, Google processes technical connection data. Predefined avatars are served by this site; uploads are not supported.
If you allow analytics, analytics cookies last up to 90 days; your consent or refusal is remembered in this browser for 180 days. Google Analytics is set to retain user and event data for 2 months; new activity does not reset the retention period for user data. This limit does not apply to standard aggregated reports.
Manage your comments
Find and remove your community comments in My comments. Removed text is replaced by a placeholder in the application database; the canonical answer and history do not change. This cannot be undone. Backups and third-party copies are not immediately erased by this action. You can report another user's comment; reporting does not guarantee removal or a review time.
Content translation
Questions, answers, comments and private inbox content are not sent to any translation service. Language selection changes only the built-in interface text.
